The artistic process

The water cycle is represented in this painting by the melting of the glaciers (above, in black and white, seen from the air) to the fountains of Rome (Piazza Navona). The horse pawing at Bernini’s stone and the outstretched hand of the Nile River symbolize the tensions surrounding the need for drinking water, which is still unmet for a large part of humanity. In the center of the canvas, the colored window symbolizes hope.
