Lycée Jeanne d’Albret in Saint-Germain-en-Laye

Récup'art Marly le Roi

Raising young people’s awareness of ecology while introducing them to art was a project that I had wanted to develop for a long time. I would like to thank Mrs Sophie Lorotte, director of the Centre J. Vilar, and her team, thanks to whom I was put in contact with a school ready to host my first “Récup’art” workshop.

In 2018/2019: I opened an “art and ecology” workshop for a class of 1ère L at the Lycée “Jeanne d’Albret” in St. Germain en laye with the support of Mrs. Catherine Mary, the Lycée’s headmaster and the enthusiastic help of Mrs. Anne Fouilloux, a literature teacher.

Our educational project was linked to my personal exhibition “The Sea is your mirror” at the “Jean Vilar” cultural centre in Marly-le-Roi at the end of the school year (May-June 2019): in fact, in the building there is a basin filled with water on the ground floor that I had the idea of animating with marine animals in order to create an aquatic ecosystem of the “Mangrove” type in 3D, created during art workshops at the school.

An exhibition of the Recup’art works was also organised by Mme Fouilloux in April-May 2019 in the CDI of the Jeanne D’Albret high school (see photos).

All the 3D objects exhibited were made from recycled materials by a group of volunteer students from a class of 1ère L during voluntary lessons outside the official class hours.

The catalogue of my exhibition: “The Sea is your mirror” at the Jean Vilar Cultural Centre in Marly is available on request (10 €).

The exhibition at the Centre Culturel Jean-Vilar

This educational project required the management of a large volume of recycled materials to create this installation. It highlighted the educational role of art in the service of ecology. At the same time, Nicole King integrated Récup’Art into her personal exhibition “The Sea is your mirror” at the Jean Vilar Cultural Centre in Marly-le-Roi at the end of the school year (May-June 2019): in fact, in the building there is a basin filled with water on the ground floor that she had the idea of animating with marine animals in order to reconstitute an aquatic ecosystem such as a “Mangrove” in 3D. This installation was made possible thanks to the work of the student volunteers during the art workshops at the high school during the voluntary classes and outside the official school hours.
