Reopening of the Art and Ecology workshop at the Marly-le-Roi boarding school

Atelier Art et Ecologie à l'Internat de Marly-le-Roi

Since 2019, Nicole King is responsible for an art workshop “Art & Ecology” named “Nicole’s Eco-school” at the Excellence boarding school of Marly -le-Roi (78). She has been artist in residence for 2 years, and bases her teaching on “Récup’art” (work with recycled or salvaged materials), invited by the Director Mrs. Labeau whose school project includes ecology in its priorities.

This school year 2022/23 the workshop is reopened with about ten boarding students on Wednesdays at least once a month. The theme of this year’s workshop is “the beauties of biodiversity”. The artist teaches the rules of the painter’s craft (composition, colors, materials…) while making the apprentices aware of the challenges of the Anthropocene.

Art and science are associated as in the painting work regularly exhibited by Nicole King also in the boarding school.

Art history courses are also offered in the auditorium of the boarding school to all the young boarders (150 college and high school students) as previously on Leonardo da Vinci, and before next Christmas on “the Sea in the History of Art”.
